Schisms

I am drawing a blank as to what to write or perhaps I just have nothing to say. The big news is I joined a health club. So I have decided to post what I did at the club on here. I go about three times a week. I really should go more than that, but need a couple days of rest. Plus the whole going to the club thing really kills a lot of time. Anyways here is what I did today:

January 18, 2010
Elliptical 3: 60
Treadmill: 50
Weights: 10
Elliptical 2: 60
Total: 180

There are some things to note on this chart. I have numbered the various elliptical machines that are at the club. I am not exactly sure why I am doing that, but do I really need a reason to do so? The last thing to note is that the numbers are in minutes. I am sure you could figure that out on your own, but who knows. I will note that this is not a typical day at the gym. I did not have work today so I got to spend the day at the gym. I also got to sleep in which was superb.

Have a happy and healthy one.

Phantasms

This will be my first post in the middle of the week and day. I have been feeling nauseous since about 4 pm on Sunday. I have no idea what is causing me to feel this way and I am starting to feel better. Although when I finish this post I will have to take some Advil for a headache. With all of this I decided to take a day of rest to insure it doesn’t get worse. I think it is working so that is good. The bad is I didn’t get to work out yesterday and I was trying to get back into the swing of things. I think I may do a little bit today. I will do nothing to strain myself, but enough so I don’t feel totally worthless in the activity sense.

My other share for today is my dream from last night. I don’t remember full details, but I will go into what I do remember. I was sitting with a group of people at a fast food restaurant. I have no idea what place it was or what type of food they served just that I was at a table. I then walked up to get a refill on my drink and when I was doing that Sarah Palin (ran for vice president) came up next to me to fill her glass. I started to talk to her about something (can’t remember) and asked her some questions about the family, which I then noticed was at a table nearby. After that I woke up. My only guess why she was in my dreams is that I have seen her more and more in the news lately. They have also talked about her more on talk radio on my way home from work. She has a new book out or something like that. It isn’t the strangest dream I have ever had. I will not even get into one of those.

Have a happy and healthy one.

Ship in a Bottle

I am lost in thought tonight. This is not a new thing for me. I have always admitted to thinking too much. It can be a good thing and also a bad thing. It can allow you to think things out and be able to succeed where others may fail. It also can cause you not to act on things because you place too many variables into it that it floods your mind with thought. It can be debilitating sometimes. That is where I am tonight.

I seem to have a lot of thoughts floating around that I can’t concentrate on things. Of course I am not going to share any of these thoughts with you. I have found that by doing so only bad things can come of it. So I am writing everything down in my spiral notebook and enjoying my time in my world made of cardboard.

I hope you enjoyed the picture of my spiral notebook. I also have a blue and a black one. This was part of my Halloween costume. I will not go into what I was and why it facilitated the need for spiral notebooks. Let’s just say it was a pretty super costume if you ask me.

Last thought of the blog tonight is the greatest thing about this time of year. That would be the pomegranate.

Such a wonderful thing to eat it is. It is what doomed goddess Persephone to the Underworld 4 months of the year. So you know it is a good thing and good for you. If that doesn’t sell it for you in Armenia it is a symbol that represents fertility, abundance, and marriage. How could one possibly go wrong with those three things? You really can’t.

Have a healthy and happy one.

Hollow Pursuits

So I have come to the conclusions that I have been doing all of this for the wrong reasons. I will not go into said reasons, but let’s just say it is not a thing to keep one motivated enough to continue. This is the source of the two week absent of my workouts. So tonight I started a new chapter and a new reason. Like the other reason I will not say my new motivation. Motivation is a personal thing that I think should be kept to one’s self. All I will say is that I will not tire, I will not falter, and I will not fail.

So the slate has been somewhat wiped clean and so I start with a new goal. That goal is 40lbs by my birthday in May. This should give me enough time to succeed and not feel rushed into doing something that isn’t healthy for me. I am going to also attempt to make smaller goals for myself that I can strive for. The large goal is nice, but it is a long distance and it is easier to get small goals that lead to the large one. I will not share the small goals, but will share the progress to the large goal.

With all that being said I will share my one update from Active that I looked at tonight. Since I started Active I have burned 6,465.5 Calories and have worked out 15 hours 37 minutes. If I keep everything up it will take my around 17 days to reach the 10,000 mark and I will receive an in game trophy for it. This is one of four that I have left to get in the game.

Have a happy and healthy one.

Power Play

Day 2 of my second challenge and I am sore. I have pulled a muscle and it was not a fun time with a couple of the exercises. I will not go into what muscle I have pulled because it is strange and no one cares to know. I could do most of the exercises though. I think it really was only two that gave me problems and I could still do partial exercises. All in all it was a much better work out than yesterday. It was tougher and burned more calories. Sadly I am really missing my custom workout. It had what I liked, burned a ton of calories, and I felt really good after doing it. The challenge is what I have and that is what I will stick to. Maybe on the weekends I can add in my custom work out.

Have a happy and healthy one.

Dark Page

Today marked the beginning of my second 30 day challenge. It has been a while since the last one and was a bit strange to start a new one. The main thing that is strange is that I got to pick and choose my custom work outs and the challenge gives me a strange mixed bag of exercises. Of course the challenge got me to do things I tend to skip. The main one being inline skating. It really sucks and that is why I don’t do it. I pretty much dislike any of the exercises that involve jumping. All in all it was a pretty good workout and I am glad to get back into the swing of things after the long break.

I have an update on my progress as well. I don’t feel like sharing it though. I will say that if the number is correct the long week did not set me back one bit. That is a great thing. I may share where I am at sometime later.

Have a happy and healthy one.

Too Short A Season

This is going to be a short post for I am extremely tired. I mean that both physically and mentally. I am running on empty and just trying to bide my time until I can refill. So to sum things up my day sucked and my workout was good. I did 30 minutes of Fit Plus and 30 minutes of Active. I am finding it nice to warm up using Fit Plus and will continue to do so from now on.

The other thing I am finding nice is the gloves I bought. Not only do they make me feel like a street fighter (Edward Norton in Fight Club not Van Damn in the movie Street Fighter), but they also protect my hands from the resistance straps. I would recommend getting some to anyone that is having issues with the straps digging into their hands or anyone who wants to feel like a street fighter. Just remember feeling like one and being one are two different things.

Have a happy and healthy one.

The Dauphin

Such a long day this was. I was so glad when it ended. I guess the only thing to report is that I received my flu shot today. It is actually the first time that I have ever received the shot. There were some incentives in getting the shot this year that I will not go into. I was actually a bit surprised at the fact that I didn’t feel the needle at all. Usually there is a little prick, but there wasn’t anything. So that was a good thing. I am sure most people would encourage everyone to go out and get the shot. Personally if you don’t want to, I would say don’t. I take no responsibility if you get sick and or die from the flu though. It is really a personal decision.

So, on a work out topic I spent the night playing around with Fit Plus. My first take on it is that it is much better than the original. Seeing as though it has all of the original activities it isn’t that hard to imagine that is better than the original. My favorite is what they call Training Plus. It has a lot of game exercises sort of like the balance games, but it seems to be more focused on working out than building balance. They give a decent leg workout. The other feature I like is that they have added a calorie count. It is nice to see how much you are actually burning and gives you some motivation to work out a little longer. They also give you the option to see what kind of food you would burn with your calorie count or you can pick a food to have as you goal. Tonight I had fried chicken at 278 calories as my goal and I reached that goal. If I find the time I will try to write up a more in depth analysis of the game. Would I recommend buying it? If you already had EA Sports Active I would say yes. I find it a nice break from the same old routine.

I also did my basic 30 minute routine tonight. So with the Fit Plus I spent a total of 1:30 working out tonight. Not too shabby if you ask me. The one thing I like is that I used the Fit Plus as sort of a warm up work out since it is less of a strenuous. This actually worked out pretty well and I will try to continue to do so from now on. Other than that not much is going on here. I do have a few thoughts that may not come to fruition, but we will see.

Have a happy and healthy one.

When the Bough Breaks

Since I wasn’t able to work hard today with my workouts (I did a little bit and it was not good) I thought I would share my new buys. My first buy was new workout gloves. The straps on the resistance bands have been digging into my hands since I jury rigged the new set. I am pretty sure it is because it is much tighter than the original bands. Hopefully these new gloves work to stop this. If anything they sure do look really cool. I feel like a street fighter or something with them. I will update on how they work.

The other thing that I purchased was the new Wii Fit Plus. It is an add-on for the Wii Fit. While I am a bigger fan of Active than I am with Fit I decided to give this a try. I only played it a little bit tonight. I will have a more in-depth analysis of the game another night. Some of the things I looked at include a number of additional activities such as Kung Fu, Juggling, Golf, and some strange counting game. There is now a calorie counter in the program. You can now make a custom workout similar to what Active has. The other new thing that I find hilarious addition is being able to add your pet/child as a participant. You actually weigh your pet and it will track their weight day to day. It also gives them tips on health. I added Oscar to it and weighed him. I would reveal his weight, but I don’t think he would like that. It also gave him some grooming advice. It was really just to have me brush him. There are a lot of other features that I will have to write about in a later post.

There you have two of my buys. Again I will have a more detail report on how the Fit Plus is working out. I may give it a couple days to really get into it. Stay tuned for that and much more.

Have a happy and healthy one.

The Week Of Hell

So I will explain this post and not just leave it as it was. I wanted to post to explain this week a bit. My original idea was to kick it in high gear for this week. Work as hard as I can and try to get ahead in prepare for next week’s debauchery. The only thing is I had a minor setback for today. I gave a pint of blood today at work. The first thing said is try not to lift anything heavy and no hard exercising. That threw out my plans for tonight. I still have 4 more days so no big deal.

Another part of hell week is all that I have to do beyond my workout plans. Those would be blood donation, flu shot, payroll, deferred revenue, inventory, clean entire house, and I am sure a list of things I am not thinking of at this point. So it is going to be a long week.

Have a happy and healthy one.

31 Minutes of My Life

Tonight I have decided to create another custom workout and I have decided to share it with you. The routine last around 31 minutes, has 26 exercises, and is supposed to burn around 205 calories. It needs a little bit of tweaking, but is still a pretty good routine. So here is what I have:

Standing Twist (H)
Alternating Cross Knee Punch (H)
Run & Walk Short (M)
Alternating Bicep Curls (H)
Alternating Tricep Kickbacks (H)
Lateral Shoulder Raises (H)
Targets 4 (H)
Targets 4 (H)
Alternating Side Lounges (H)
Squots (M)
Alternating Standing Knee Crunches (H)
Tennis Back Court (H)
Targets 4 (H)
Targets 4 (H)
Run & Walk Short (M)
Alternating Bicep Curls (H)
Font Shoulder Raise (H)
Upright Rows (H)
Tennis Back Court (H)
Targets 4 (H)
Targets 4 (H)
Alternating Side Lunges w/ Toe Touches (H)
Alternating Lunges (H)
Random Dancing Pro (H)
Run & Walk (M)
Tennis Back Court (H)

There you have my work out for tonight. If case you were wondering E is for easy, M is for medium, and H is for hard. The real difference is the number of reps that you do. Tennis also seems to be a bit faster. I tend to do hard on most of the work outs. It is the leg exercises that I will use one of the lower settings.

Have a happy and healthy one.

New Site

Welcome to the new site. I still have a bit more work to do to get the site to where I want it, but it works for now. If you see anything you don't like or think of something that could be added let me know. I am always open to thoughts of others.

Have a happy and healthy one.
